April 5, 2026 Update from the Mayor

Sunday, April 5, 2026 Water Boil Order Effective Immediately For Area of Hickory Hills East of 82nd Avenue

Due to a pressure valve failure, a localized area of Hickory Hills residents experienced a loss of water pressure. We are issuing a precautionary boil order for Hickory Hills residents located East of 82nd Avenue. For precautionary measures only, boil all water for consumption for a minimum of 5 minutes. The water is safe to wash hands, shower, etc. Only water for consumption should be boiled. We are taking samples and submitting them to an IEPA laboratory. Results should be back in 24 hours. This boil order is effective immediately and you will be notified when it is lifted. If you have any questions, please call Public Works at 708-598-7855.

The city also has sent a reverse 911 notification message to residents who registered their phone number for the free service.  For those interested in signing up for future emergency notifications, the following is the link from the Hills Police website:  https://accountportal.onsolve.net/cityofhickoryhillsil

To be clear, the boil order is only for the section of Hickory Hills east of 82nd Avenue. Our home had no water pressure this morning so you will know if you are part of the impacted area when you turn on your faucet.
