January/February 2008 Artist Showcased at City Hall
Lesley D. Porter
While working in oils, acrylics, ceramic, and glass, the art of Lesley Porter has found its way into many homes in the Chicago area. Originally from Albany Park, Lesley lived primarily on the North side of Chicago for most of her life. Art was always a full time interest with a part-time commitment because of the demands of raising a family of three lovely daughters.
The millennium brought many exciting changes to Lesley’s life. “I retired from my full-time position as inside sales representative from Europa Eyeware, moved to a new home on the far, far, far Southside of Chicago (to a place I had only read about in travel magazines), had to make all new friends (all of which are wonderful), and, best of all, married the love of my life, Gary. These wild and crazy changes now offer me the luxury of time to devote to my passion of painting full time.”
Her painting style can be described as modern, abstract, and neuwave. In a highly imaginative way, she combines form and colot that excites the senses and leaves you wanting to explore more.
Lesley’s previous works were mainly commissioned pieces. “My current time commitments to painting and recently acquired studio in my home in Mokena have allowed me to increase the number of works available for private and public acquisition. I have really enjoyed creating many art works which reflect who I am and how the world looks to me.”
