July 25, 2013 City Council Meeting Minutes
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by City Clerk D’Lorah Catizone on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 7:32 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Clerk Catizone stated Mayor Howley will not be present at this evenings meeting. Alderman McAvoy moved to appoint Alderman Stachnik as Mayor Pro-Tem. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll Call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McAvoy, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight aye. So approved.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Pro-Tem Stachnik led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Alderman Ferrero moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Ferrero, McAvoy, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight aye. So approved.

The above are representing the Hickory Top Condo Association next door to Camelot Banquets. They are requesting the City to review the drainage issue at Camelot and have the drainage flow to the west side of the building onto 86th Court. They presented pictures to the Council to review what the water does to their parking lot. They also noted the Camelot should have a construction fence around the building while they are rebuilding.
Ms. Fontana is also concerned with the empty lot on 95th Street where the McDonald’s was located. There is quite a bit of overgrowth of weeds.

Alderman Ferrero moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Szeszycki second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Ferrero, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight aye. So approved.
JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman Szeszycki moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of July 11, 2013 as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight aye. So approved.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
MAYOR
Mayor Howley was absent. Mayor Pro-Tem Stachnik presented a request from St. Patricia for a temporary liquor license at an Alumni Reunion on August 24, 2013. Alderman McHugh moved to approve the liquor license with fees waived for August 24, 2013. Alderman McAvoy second. Roll Call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight aye. So approved.

CITY TREASURER
Treasurer Schramm requested that Family Medical Leave be placed on the next meeting’s agenda.
CITY ATTORNEY
Attorney Cainkar presented Ordinance #13-9, an ordinance levying taxes for General Corporate and other purposes for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2013 and ending April 30, 2014 for the City of Hickory Hills, Cook County. Alderman McHugh moved to approve Ordinance #13-9. Alderman Waight second. Roll Call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight aye. So approved.

Alderman Waight presented one business certificate application for Redhouse Performance, Inc. located at 9911 S. 78th Avenue. This is a distributor for fitting, hose and hose ends on performance autos. No objections were noted.
Fonte/ Health & Environmental Control
Alderman Fonte reported the rebate check from Waste Management for the month of June, 2013 was $579.09.
Ferrero/Community Affairs/Youth Advisory

McAvoy/Chamber Business Development
Alderman McAvoy reported he had attended a dinner at the Mosque in Bridgeview. He noted he saw many residents and it was a very well attended evening.

Alderman Szeszycki inquired how the arrangement with the Park District mechanic was progressing. Mr. Boettcher noted no problems at this time.
