May 28, 2015 City Council Meeting Minutes
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Clerk D’Lorah Catizone on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL
Upon roll call, the following were present:

Mayor Howley, City Attorney Vince Cainkar and Building Commissioner John Moirano were absent. There being a quorum present, the meeting was called to order.
Alderman McAvoy introduced Phyllis Majka, President of the Hills Chamber of Commerce. At this time, Mrs. Majka announced the appointment of Mrs. Teresa Stack of Palos Hills as the new secretary of the Hills Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Stack gave the Council an update on the Chamber’s events and new website.
OPEN TO PUBLIC
Alderman Stachnik moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman McAvoy second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Ferrero, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
Mrs. Sharon Barnard
9329 S. 78th Court
Mrs. Barnard voiced her concern and wanted to draw the attention of a sod replacement on her front lawn. This was due to a sewer repair that had occurred. She is unhappy about the way the sod was installed by an independent contractor. Mrs. Barnard explained the interaction she had had with the Public Works Department. She thanked Alderman Waight for assisting her with this issue. After finishing her statement, she promptly left without waiting for any response or questions from the Council.

Alderman McAvoy moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman Szeszycki moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of May 14, 2015 as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Ferrero, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye.
So approved.

Alderman Szeszycki moved to approve the bills payable for the second half of May 2015 in the amount of $299,759.71. Alderman Stachnik second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Alderman Szeszycki distributed the latest Video Gaming Revenue Report.
Stachnik/Public Safety
Chief Vodicka reported a Wellness Fair will take place on Friday, May 29th at the Community Center. All are welcome to attend.

Waight/Laws & Ordinances
Alderman Waight presented one business certificate application: 1) B.E.T.H. Services, Ltd. located at 9630 W. 95th Street. This is an ADA Health Clinic for children and adults with disabilities. No objections were noted pending review by the City Attorney.

Ferrero/Community Affairs/Youth Advisory
Alderman Ferrero reported the Street Fair now has all
bands contracted. There are 43 crafters and 7 food vendors as of today. Alderman Ferrero mentioned she ordered a banner to place at the Dirty Sock for the Kick-off concert on Saturday, June 27th.
McAvoy/Chamber Business Development
Alderman McAvoy reported a can for donations for
Veterans (Post 271 – Willow Springs) will be placed in the Clerk’s Office and for anyone wishing to donate this evening.

NEW BUSINESS
Clerk Catizone is in receipt of a request from The Dirty Sock. They would like to have a band the evening of the Street Fair from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. No objections were noted.
Alderman McHugh reported The Road House is requesting to hold a bean bag tournament during the Street Fair from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. They are not requesting a band this year.
ADJOURNMENT
Alderman Ferrero moved to adjourn the meeting until the next regularly scheduled or specially called meeting. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Ferrero, McAvoy, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
