Public Swimming Pool Update
IDPH has released guidelines (available via this link) for businesses and local governments operating swimming facilities that are licensed by IDPH. This guidance includes, but is not limited to, swimming pools, water parks, splashpads, bathing beaches, spas and whirlpools.
During Phase 3 (Recovery) of the “Restore Illinois” plan, swimming facilities licensed by IDPH are not to be opened except for lap swimming, diving, swimming lessons, swim team practices and therapy pool use. Water parks and bathing beaches are not to be opened in Phase 3. Our region could proceed to Phase 4 at the end of June if current COVID trends continue.
Enhancement to Digital Billboard at 87th and 88th Avenue
The digital billboard company is planning on adding some small shrubs and perennials to finish off the corner at 87th Street and 88th Avenue. Then replacing any disturbed grass. Our Public Works Director, Sue Lehr, worked with the sign company contractor on a plan for some additional work which will include a brick wall on each side with an end pillar. Each wall would have a planter box for annuals. Photo rendering below.
95th St Streetscaping
Public Works recently added 70 new perennials to the streetscaping on 95th Street surrounding the light poles. Plants were added to areas with low or no foliage covering. Plans are to add more plants in the fall to continue to replenish in small batches.
