June 17, 2020 Update from the Mayor
Illinois officials on Tuesday announced 623 new known cases of COVID and 72 additional deaths, bringing the total number of known cases to 133,639 and the death toll to 6,398 statewide. The state’s Northeast region — which includes Chicago and its suburbs — has a 6.2% positivity rate. Each of the state’s four regions are on track to move into phase 4 of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s reopening plan on June 26. Hickory Hills has 127 confirmed COVID cases and 4 related deaths. Below is an interesting study from Johns Hopkins University that shows state by state COVID infection trends. The greener the color the bigger the downward trend in new cases. The redder the color the bigger the upward trend in new cases.
