Hickory Hills Named Tree City USA Town for 27th Year

The City will receive Tree City USA recognition for our 2022 activities. The City also will receive the growth award for a 7th time for adopting an Urban Forest Management Plan. The plan includes directives on tree planting, maintenance work and species selection for the immediate future. The benefits trees bring are endless. Special thanks to Sue Lehr, our Public Works Director and City Arborist, for all of her hard work in enhancing our city through the beauty of trees.  Thanks also to our city council for supporting our urban forestry efforts and their commitment to the mission of environmental change.

Pace Bus Service Transfer Fees Eliminated

Recently Pace and its partners at Metra, CTA, and RTA, adopted a program to reduce the cost of regional public transportation. The new Pace/CTA unlimited-ride passes and reduced pass pricing  allows Pace passengers to ride more for less with the elimination of transfers between Pace services. Passengers transferring to Pace premium services will continue to pay a surcharge to get to the premium base fare.  Free transfers are valid when using Ventra within two hours of the first trip taken. A Ventra card is free after registration and allows riders to store passes and discounts and save money on each ride.
