PROPERTY OWNER SURVEY
TO ASSIST US TO KEEP OUR DRINKING WATER SAFE

ILLINOIS LAW enforced by the lllinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Mandates under Title 35 the PUBLIC WATER SUPPLIER, the City’S Public Works Department, is responsible for the delivery of SAFE DRINKING WATER to the public.

It is possible for WATER USERS to create a condition in which the City’s water supply can flow away (backflow) from the property. Conditions that cause a backflow could include backpressure in the private line and siphoning that would draw water from the private property water lines back (possibly with contaminants) into the City’s water mains.

To protect the drinking water ofeach town, the IEPA mandates that the Water Department must perform a survey biennially (every two (2) years) for connections to the water supply system that could contaminate the town’s water supply.
