June 25, 2015 City Council Meeting Minutes
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Clerk D’Lorah Catizone on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Clerk Catizone led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Clerk Catizone stated Mayor Howley will be absent this evening. Alderman Ferrero moved to appoint Alderman Zimmerman as Mayor Pro Tem. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McHugh, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Alderman Ferrero moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McHugh, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman Szeszycki moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of June 11, 2015 as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, McHugh, Szeszycki aye. Aldermen Fonte, Waight, Zimmerman pass. So approved.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
MAYOR
Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman presented Resolution 15-6, a resolution for construction on State Highways within the City of Hickory Hills for the period of two years, 2015-2016. Alderman McHugh moved to approve Resolution 15-6. Alderman Szeszycki second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McHugh, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
CITY CLERK
Clerk Catizone is proud to announce the Secretary of State Mobile Driver Services Facility will be at City Hall on Tuesday, August 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The following services will be provided: Driver’s License Renewal, State ID Cards, Duplicate Licenses, Corrected Licenses, Vehicle renewal sticker for license plates.
Clerk Catizone also reported this evening the City will be signing an intergovernmental agreement with MWRD to begin a Rain Barrel Program. This program will begin when the agreement is completed. More information will be on our website.

CITY ENGINEER
Mr. Spolar is seeking direction for the 87th Avenue (north of 91st Street) drainage improvement project that was discussed at the last Council meeting. After some discussion, Alderman Szeszycki moved to authorize the City Engineer to move forward and prepare for a bid opening on the 87th Avenue drainage improvement project with an approximate cost of $50,000.00. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McHugh, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
COMMUNICATIONS
BILLS PAYABLE
Alderman Szeszycki moved to approve the bills payable for the second half of June 2015 in the amount of $206,871.58. Alderman McHugh second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, McHugh, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Alderman Stachnik was absent.
Chief Vodicka stated he has distributed two informational memos to the Council this evening.

Waight/Laws & Ordinances
Alderman Waight is in receipt of one business certificate request for Anarchypro, LLC. This is a wrestling training facility located at 9831 S. 78th Avenue, Unit E. No objections were noted.
Fonte/Health & Environmental Control
Alderman Fonte reported that Alderman McAvoy is looking for volunteers for the bingo tent, and he has $9,000.00 worth of prizes to give away.
Ferrero/Community Affairs/Youth Advisory
Alderman Ferrero reported there are 87 crafters and 22 food vendors as of today. She noted everything is ready for Sunday’s Street Fair.
McAvoy/Chamber Business Development
Alderman McAvoy was absent. No report submitted.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Alderman Szeszycki questioned when the bids will be opened for the 85th Court drainage project. Mike Spolar explained the contractors asked for more time, so the bids will be opened on July 1st at 10:00 a.m. and contract awarded at the July 9th Council meeting.
