Local Cheerleading Program Reaches 10th in Nation

Cheer Galaxy, Flying High’s all-star cheerleading program, is proud to announce that their Junior Level 1 team, Jets, placed 10th overall at one of the nation’s most prestigious cheerleading competitions, The Summit, produced by Varsity All Star.

Held at Walt Disney World® Resort’s ESPN Wide World of Sports May 5-7, The Summit, is the season-capping goal for many competitive all star teams. The 2017 Summit showcased more than 1,000 teams from across the United States, and the Jets from Cheer Galaxy had an incredible journey at the event.

On Friday, May 5th, the Jets competed in the Wild Card Round with 15 other Junior Level 1 teams hoping to attain one of the top three spots. When the top three teams were revealed, the Jets were announced as 2nd place, which allowed them to bypass the Semi-Final Round on 5/6 and proceed straight to Finals on Sunday 5/7.

On Sunday, Jets hit a zero deduction routine, earning them 10th Place in the Nation, after competing alongside 43 of the country’s best Junior Level 1 teams. The coaches and parents are incredibly proud of this accomplishment. The Summit is filled with teams who come from large programs, some having as many as 400 athletes to choose from, and Cheer Galaxy, a small program of approximately 50 athletes, held their own with these large programs!

All star cheerleading is a discipline of cheerleading that is open to all ages and skill levels. “We like to think of All Star cheerleading as the most inclusive sport available to young athletes. Truly anyone can find a local gym, join a team, and attempt a climb to The Summit.” adds Tres LeTard, Co-General Manager and Vice President of Operations for Varsity All Star.

Team Evaluations (tryouts) will be held May 10-May 12th and athletes can pre-register online at on the Flying High website.
