January 10, 2019 City Council Meeting Minutes
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Mayor Mike Howley on Thursday,
January 10, 2019 at 7:31 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Howley led the Pledge of Allegiance.

At this time, Mayor Howley announces the winners of the “Lights of Hickory Hills” contest. Below is a list of winners.

Alderman Stachnik moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Mr. Murillo and Mr. Ostry asked the Council to reconsider having video gaming in gas stations. Mayor Howley noted the Council will have a discussion on this matter at the next Committee of the Whole meeting in January.

Alderman Ferrero moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Kman second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman McHugh moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of December 13, 2018 as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Zimmerman aye.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
MAYOR
5K Run Report – Mayor Howley reported Sharon Marciano (Clerk’s Office) has completed the 5K Run report and distributed this to the Council. There were some questions regarding the Auxiliary Police charges and Treasurer Schramm will review this and get back to the Mayor.
Tollway Meeting – Mayor Howley noted he has been in contact with the Tollway and they are noise testing in our area and identifying where the noise reducing walls are to be installed along the tollway. Public Works Director Lehr was in these meetings and she stated the bridge on 87th Street and Roberts Road will be redone in 2021 or 2022.
Falcon Fuel – Mayor Howley has talked with the owner of Falcon Fuel on 87th Street and Roberts Road and they will be opening soon.
Sal’s Philly Steak Ribbon Cutting – Mayor Howley thanked the Council who attended the ribbon cutting at Sal’s Philly Steak.

CITY TREASURER
Treasurer Schramm presented the Treasurer’s Reports dated November 30, 2018 and December 31, 2018 for approval. Alderman McHugh moved to approve Treasurer’s Reports dated November 30, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Alderman McHugh questioned the Parkview account numbers and Treasurer Schramm stated he will investigate further and update the Treasurer’s Report if needed. Alderman Fonte second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

COMMUNICATIONS
BILLS PAYABLE
Alderman Szeszycki moved to approve the bills payable for the first half of January 2019 in the amount of $285,554.71. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
It was noted for the second half of December 2018 the bills payable was in the amount of $292,110.02.
STANDING COMMITTEES
Szeszycki/Finance
Alderman Szeszycki distributed the video gaming report and stated the video gaming revenues are up $30k ahead of the budgeted amount and will total approximately $280k.
Stachnik/Public Safety

McHugh/Bldg./Facilities
Alderman McHugh stated Parkview Apartments is running well.
Waight/Laws & Ordinances
Alderman Waight was absent. Mayor Howley presented one business certificate application for King Cash and Carry Foods located at 7709 W. 99th Street. This is a wholesaler selling fish and chicken to area restaurants. No objections were noted.

NEW BUSINESS
Alderman Szeszycki inquired as to what the City is doing now that Batt. Chief Don Huenecke has retired. In the past, he was handling fire inspections. Building Commissioner Moirano stated he was told someone is in training for this position.

Alderman Ferrero moved to adjourn until the meeting until the next regularly scheduled or specially called meeting. Alderman Fonte second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
