May 11, 2020 Update from the Mayor

Today, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 1,266 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois. Currently, IDPH has reported a total of 79,007 cases, including 3,459 deaths, in 98 counties in Illinois. Hickory Hills has 90 confirmed cases of COVID and 2 related deaths.

The Illinois Department of Human Rights has issued a helpful Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document today, FAQ for Businesses Concerning Use of Face-Coverings During COVID-19.  That document is available via this link.

Garage Sales Prohibited Until Further Notice

We were also advised today by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) that spring garage sale time is upon us and they have been getting multiple questions about those activities.  DCEO advised that, much like sidewalk sales, garage sales are not allowed.

At Your Door Waste Management Pick Up

Alderman Brian Fonte would like to remind everyone that the Waste Management At Your Door Electronics and Household Waste recycling program continues to operate.  In April, Hickory Hills residents properly disposed of over 2,100 pounds of waste materials.  A snapshot of a typical collection day is below.  In one day 535 pounds of waste that may have been dumped in a landfill was properly disposed and recycled through this program.  If you live in a single family residence in Hickory Hills then this service is already part of your refuse bill so there is no additional charge to use.  Simply call 1-800-449-7587 to schedule a pick up.  It is that simple.  Further details on how the program work can be found at this link  https://youtu.be/eCUSWhks0ng.  This program makes it easy for you to clean up your home and do right by our planet at the same time.
