September 10, 2020 City Council Meeting Minutes
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Mayor Mike Howley on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 7:33 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Alderman Stachnik moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman McHugh second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
No one spoke during this portion of the meeting.
CLOSE TO THE PUBLIC
Alderman Waight moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman McHugh moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of August 27, 2020 as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight aye. Alderman Zimmerman pass. So approved.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
MAYOR
Mayor Howley expressed the Council’s condolences to Alderman Joe Stachnik on the passing of his Mother, Irene.
CITY CLERK
Clerk Catizone reported the last blood drive on August 30th had 43 donors and 4 deferrals. The next blood drive will be on Sunday, November 1st from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Clerk Catizone announced the newsletter article deadline is Friday, September 18th. This newsletter will be sent out the first week of October.
CITY TREASURER
Treasurer Vodicka distributed a memo regarding the City’s decision not to move forward with the voluntary payroll tax holiday.
Treasurer Vodicka distributed a memo from the finance committee with their recommendation to renew the City’s liability insurance with a 6% premium increase to the City. No objections were noted.

COMMUNICATIONS
BILLS PAYABLE
Alderman Waight moved to approve the bills payable for the first half of September 2020 in the amount of $491,701.92. Alderman McHugh second.
Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Alderman Kman was absent. Report submitted by Treasurer Vodicka.
Stachnik/Public Safety

Zimmerman/Public Works
Director Lehr reported Public Works had viewed several wheel loaders and acquired quotes to replace a 1999 loader with approximately 5000 engine hours. A 2020 John Deere 524L for $134,219.21 was chosen to be the responsible bid that fits this department’s needs. This is a budgeted item and Public Works will move forward with this purchase if there are no concerns. No concerns were noted.
McHugh/Bldg./Facilities
Alderman McHugh reported all is going well at Parkview Apartments. He is discussing plans for the November community dinner. No decision has been made at this time.
Purtill/Laws & Ordinances

Alderman Fonte was absent. No report submitted.
Ferrero/Community Affairs/Youth Advisory
Alderman Ferrero confirmed with the Council that the Children’s Halloween Party will be cancelled.
