CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Mayor Mike Howley on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 7:34 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Howley lead the pledge of allegiance.

ROLL CALL

Upon roll call, the following were present:

Alderman Ferrero was absent. There being a quorum present the meeting was called to order.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Alderman Stachnik moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Purtill, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

No one spoke during this portion of the meeting.

CLOSE TO THE PUBLIC

Alderman Fonte moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Purtill second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS

Alderman Kman moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of February 11, 2021 as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, McHugh, Kman, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS

MAYOR

Mayor Howley is in receipt of a request from the Hills Baseball/Softball Association for sponsorship. Alderman Purtill moved to approve a $250.00 sponsorship to the Hills Baseball/Softball Association. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye So approved.

CITY CLERK

Clerk Catizone noted the deadline for newsletter articles is Friday, March 15th.

Clerk Catizone reported the next Blood Drive will be at the Community Center on Sunday, April 11th.

Clerk Catizone noted the City has received a thank you letter and certificate from the U.S. Census. The City had hosted one of their recruiting events.

CITY TREASURER

Treasurer Vodicka presented the Treasurer’s Reports dated December 31, 2020 and January 31, 2021 for approval. Alderman McHugh moved to approve the Treasurer’s Reports dated December 31, 2020 and January 31, 2021. Alderman Kman second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Treasurer Vodicka noted budget worksheets will be sent out next week to department heads.

CITY ATTORNEY

Attorney Attard presented Ordinance #21-01, an ordinance amending Chapter 34, alcoholic beverages, of the Hickory Hills Municipal Code by increasing by one the number of Class A Liquor Licenses. Alderman McHugh moved to approve Ordinance #21.01. Alderman Waight second. Attorney Attard noted this would provide a license for Ricky Rockets Fuel Center. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

CITY ENGINEER

Mr. Spolar presented Resolution #21-02, a resolution requesting Cook County, Community Block Grant (CDBG) Program, for funds in the amount of $175,000.00 for Sanitary Manhole Rehabilitation. Alderman Purtill moved to approve Resolution #21-02. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

COMMUNICATIONS

BILLS PAYABLE

Alderman Kman moved to approve the bills payable for the first half of February 2021 in the amount of $370,740.21. Alderman Stachnik second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
