June 10, 2021 Update from the Mayor
Roberts Road Update
All pavement lanes are projected to be open by July 9th with miscellaneous items and restoration completed during August and September. The County is looking to grind the intersection at 95th Street overnight for safety and traffic volume concerns.
Tollway Crash Near 87th and Roberts Road on Tuesday, June 8
Below is a photo from the city’s Prairie Pond walking path shortly after a truck lost control and crashed through the sound wall. Hickory Hills police responded to the scene and assisted the truck driver who sustained non-life threatening injuries. Fortunately, no one else was injured.
Hickory Hills Starbucks is Open for Business on South Side of 95th Street Across from McDonalds
Our very own Hickory Hills Starbucks is now open! I stopped inside the other day and the interior is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. There is a nice outdoor patio for you to enjoy and the drive thru lanes are wide and easy to navigate. For many years, residents and city officials have clamored for Starbucks to locate in our city so I truly hope that our community helps make this a highly successful location.
Vaccination
I am pleased to report that in one week everyone in our family will be fully vaccinated and we could not be happier. I still carry a mask around with me and wear one inside when a business has a sign recommending that masks be worn. I have gotten so used to wearing a mask that to me this is hardly an inconvenience and certainly is respectful to others around me. It is such a great feeling to return to normal activities without fear of contracting COVID-19.
