CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Mayor Howley on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 7:31 p.m.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Howley led the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL

Upon roll call, the following were present:

Alderman Fonte was absent. There being a quorum present the meeting was called to order.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Alderman Waight moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Stachnik second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Mr. J. Griffin
9301 S. 81st Avenue

Mr. Griffin is in the process of building a shed on his property and was told he needed to follow the restrictions of building a shed.
He is requesting someone take a look at his property and see if this is possible. Building Commissioner Moirano will investigate.

CLOSE TO THE PUBLIC

Alderman Zimmerman moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS

Alderman Waight moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of June 9, 2022, as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Purtill second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. Alderman McHugh pass. So approved.

REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS

MAYOR

Mayor Howley reminded the Council that the Farmer’s Market will be held on Friday, June 24th at City Hall.

CITY TREASURER

Treasurer Vodicka presented the Treasurer’s Report dated April 30, 2022 for approval. Alderman McHugh moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report dated April 30, 2022. Alderman Kman second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

CITY ATTORNEY

No report submitted.

CITY ENGINEER

Mr. Spolar provided an update on City wide projects happening now. He mentioned the 76th Avenue and 95th Street project is a week away for getting permits.

COMMUNICATIONS

BILLS PAYABLE

Alderman Kman moved to approve the bills payable for the first half of June 2022 in the amount of $187,214.82. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

McHugh/Bldg./Facilities

Alderman McHugh reported there are five (5) vacancies at Parkview. These units are in the process of being prepared for new renters.

Purtill/Laws & Ordinances

Alderman Purtill presented two business license applications for 1) Dijla Foods, LLC located at 8031 W. 87th Street. This is for a grocery store with bakery and 2) MS Tabbe, Inc. 8031 W. 87th Street, Unit 34. This will be office space for the proposed grocery store at same address. No objections were noted.

Fonte/Health & Environmental Control

Alderman Fonte was absent. No report submitted.

Ferrero/Community Affairs/Youth Advisory

Alderman Ferrero gave an update on the Street Fair. Currently, fifteen (15) crafters and four (4) food vendors have submitted their applications. She also noted there are eight (8) cars registered for the Car Show.

Waight/Chamber Business Development

No report submitted.
