February 22, 2024 City Council Meeting Minutes
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Mayor Howley on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 7:37 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Alderman Waight moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Ms. Monaco requested support from the City Council for her proposed business “2 Lattes and a Bean,” a coffee, pastry, and sandwich café.

JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman McHugh moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of February 8, 2024, as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Waight, Zimmerman aye. Alderman Purtill pass. So approved.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
MAYOR
Lt. Chris Knights, from the Roberts Park Fire Protection District, provided a tornado siren update. Lt. Knights noted that the automatic clock, which sets off the test alarms at 10:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, is defective. In lieu of purchasing new alarm systems, which cost $35,000 to $45,000 for each location, the monthly test siren will be manually operated by the Hickory Hills Police Department.
Mayor Howley congratulated Alderman Waight who coached the Richards High School Girls Bowling League to the State finals.
Mayor Howley also thanked Director Lehr and Public Works for doing an excellent job on the Prairie Pond controlled burn.
CITY CLERK
Clerk Stachnik stated that the Hills Baseball and Softball Association requested City support to hold their Opening Day Parade on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
Clerk Stachnik announced that Stagg High School’s Music Boosters will conduct their craft show on March 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and March 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Clerk Stachnik noted that the next Blood Drive will be March 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hickory Hills Community Center.
CITY TREASURER
Treasurer Vodicka presented the Treasurer’s Report dated January 31, 2024, for approval. Alderman McHugh moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report dated January 31, 2024. Alderman Kman second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
CITY ATTORNEY

CITY ENGINEER
Mr. Spolar reported that Robinson Engineering has reviewed the bids received on February 19, 2024, for the 2024 MFT/RBI Street Resurfacing Project. The bids are as follows:

Mr. Spolar recommended the project be awarded to the low bidder, Lindahl Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $678,878.85. Alderman Waight moved to award the contract for the 2024 MFT/RBI Street Resurfacing Project to Lindahl Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $678,878.85. Alderman Fonte second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

The cost of this project is covered by a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The bids are as follows:
