Hickory Hills Park District Completes Renovation of Doug Osborne Park On Time and Under Budget! Park Re-Opens Today!
Below is a summary of the park improvement that Jennifer Fullerton, the Hickory Hills Park District Executive Director, was nice enough to share with me:
Doug Osborne Park is located at 84th Ct. and Coey Lane, off of 95th Street. This is an essential neighborhood park designed for accessibility and inclusivity in mind. The park includes a playground, swings, benches, a bike rack, shelter, game tables, a rocking horse, a bat house, painted games such as Hopscotch, and an outdoor fitness area. The park has a beautiful rain garden and includes pollinator plants. A bat box is an exclusive feature not seen at any of our other parks. The bat box is located up high to encourage the bat habitat to gather and rest. Game tables as well as painted games are included to encourage play and socialization. Accessible pathways will lead to a new and modern fitness area with multiple fitness exercises that are geared to encourage adult activities. The shelter is open to the public and not available for rentals. The playground is ADA complaint with an engineered wood fiber surfacing, a transfer station and a concrete entry ramp. This park was renovated in 2024 and is an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant awarded by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Hills Farmers Market This Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Only a few more weeks to enjoy the Hills Farmer’s Market. The Farmer Market will be held this Friday in the City Hall parking lot at 8652 W. 95th Street. The fruits and vegetables from Michigan’s Cooper Farms have been better than ever. So much more to enjoy at the market as well! The market is always dog friendly!
Go Bears!
