Power Restoration Update from ComEd

The storm system brought heavy winds, flooding, hail, and possible tornado activity, resulting in outages for more than 530,000 customers. To date, approximately 300,000 customers have been restored, and more than 2,300 ComEd personnel are working around the clock to safely restore service to affected communities

Restoration efforts remain focused on the hardest-hit areas and on critical facilities, including hospitals, public safety agencies and senior centers. Crews continue to address extensive infrastructure damage, and restoration times may vary depending on site conditions and the complexity of repairs required.  Unfortunately, based on current assessments, ComEd expects to restore service to approximately 80% of impacted customers by noon on Wednesday, with the vast majority of remaining customers restored by Friday evening.  (The last sentence is just a general statement from ComEd about its regional restoration and not specific to Hickory Hills)

As of this morning, 58% of Hickory residents have had power restored.  There remains about 2,700 Hickory Hills customers without service.  ComEd reports that it has 5 crews working to restore power in our area as quickly as possible.  Some areas of Hickory Hills had power restored earlier this morning and we hope to see more and more restored throughout the day and tomorrow.    

Our Public Works department has been and will continue removing storm debris from city streets and the parkways.
